“In 2022, Sammy Kim and KA WAI were faced with a question plaguing them and their friends about New York City nightlife: “Where can we just dance to K-pop in Brooklyn?” Thus, BIAS, the duo’s nightlife party series turned NYC’s premier K-pop rave destination, was born.”

Cady Siregar, Fader Magazine, 2024

Scouted through my frequent designs for Cakeshop, Seoul’s underground music haven, BIAS sought a designer as they desired to give a dancefloor to K-pop lovers, initially hosting parties in NYC and eventually taking it across the pond.

The branding began with Sammy’s design of LIL BIAS, a simple, toy-like design that was easy enough to manipulate into various cartoonish scenarios that mirrored each scheduled event. Behind him, a party of lightstick characters, each resembling a K-pop group and their wands used for chanting at concerts.

Some flyers mimic event spaces, others poke fun using viral memes any K-pop fan would know. The work has evolved alongside the ambition of the group but has centered Lil Bias in most designs. Where will BIAS and his party go next?

@XANADU NYC

One of their biggest nights yet, BIAS collided the sweat of a roller rink with that of a dancefloor, lighting Xanadu up under the glow of neon lights and countless performances. I created extra assets for promotion, a pulsating pixel backdrop for the stage, and merch to be sold throughout the night.

Initially Lil Bias was a simple recreation of Sammy’s design, a coloring book figure that matched my skillset at the beginning of my journey into the scary world of 3D.

In late 2024, I decided they were long overdue for a makeover and coming of age redesign. Now they’re a teenager who frequents the club and knows all the K-pop edits, complete with grungy denim, combat boots and untied laces, patched up textures, always yapping on and on about their favorite remix of the night.

Alexander Bosserman is a multidisciplinary artist whose work ecompasses many techniques and styles. After studying advertising, communications, and philosophy in Los Angeles, Alex now lives in Seoul as a freelance artist.

Presenting a cinematic style with extra attention to sound design, client’s stories and identities are shown at their best, uniquity exemplified. With works spanning from music videos to product advertisements, regardless of subject, the goal is the same; to pique your interest before the modern attention span whisks you away. In animation, time accelerates in hyper-real motion, in design, elements rest in harmony, and in video, the story fashions itself in destined arrangement.

Those interested in pushing the limits of their brand will find strategy, unique ideas, and beautiful execution at the foundation of their success with Alex.
